Clock in and out with the Time Clock
Use the Employee Time Clock to clock in when your shift starts and clock out when it ends.
Tip: These steps follow the Classic menu. If you use the New Default menu or a custom menu, this page may be in a different spot. Look for the page name in your menu.
The Employee Time Clock records when you start and finish work. Your punches are saved to your employee time card. Clock in when you arrive and clock out when you leave.
Open the Time Clock
Open it from the side menu. Where it lives depends on your menu layout:
- Classic menu: User Tools > Time Clock
- New default menu: User Tools > Time Clock
The Employee Time Clock window opens with today's date and the current time.
Tip: Click the lightning bolt button next to the Employee Time Clock title to add it to your Quick Menu. Then you can open it from the top of any page.
If you can't find Time Clock in the menu, your business may not use it. Check with your manager to find out.
Clock in
- Open the Time Clock.
- Pick your name from the Employee list.
- If a login box pops up, type your Username and Password and click Log In. This step confirms it's really you.
- Your current time card status shows above the buttons. Check it before you punch.
- Click Clock in (the green button).
You'll see a confirmation and the window closes.
Clock out
- Open the Time Clock.
- Pick your name from the Employee list. Log in again if asked.
- Click Clock out (the red button).
Check your time card
After you pick your name, the window shows your time card status. Use the two buttons under it to switch views:
- Current – your current time card.
- Previous – your last time card.
If you see "Punch-In Restriction"
Some businesses only let staff clock in on the business's own network. If you try from somewhere else, such as home or your phone's data, you'll see Punch-In Restriction. The message says you can only punch in on the business premises network.
Connect to the business's network and try again, or ask your manager for help.
Note: Managers set these rules under Manage > Access Restrictions. That includes whether the Time Clock works only on the business network and which employees are exceptions.
Common questions
I forgot to clock in or out. Can I fix it myself? Ask your manager to correct your time card.
Why does it ask for my username and password when I'm already logged in? Your business has turned on an extra check so staff can only clock in for themselves, even on a shared computer.
I picked the wrong name. What now? Pick the right name from the Employee list before you click Clock in or Clock out. If you already punched under the wrong name, tell your manager.
