Locating invoices and receipts

StaffUpdated 10/19/2026

Kennel Connection lets you find invoices and receipts across all clients or within a single client’s record, then open, print, or email them. This helps your team answer billing questions quickly, check payment details, and share copies with clients.

You can find any invoice or receipt in two places: the Financial menu, which shows everyone's, and the client's own Financial tab. Once you've found it, you can open it, print it, or email it.

Who can see them

Seeing past invoices needs the View Previous right under Invoices. Seeing receipts needs Receipts access. Administrators and managers can see both. Ask your manager if you can't find these menus.

Search all invoices

  1. Go to Financial > View Invoices.
  2. The list opens on the current month. Use the arrows to move a month back or forward, or pick your own start and end dates.
  3. Type a client's name or an invoice number into the search box. The list filters as you type.

Each invoice shows the client, invoice number, total, and date, along with a status: Paid, Partial (with the amount remaining), Unpaid, or Refunded. If an invoice is overdue, you'll also see "Due N days ago" in red.

Open an invoice's menu for options such as View, Edit, Send Payment Link, and Refund/Return.

Tip: There's no filter for unpaid invoices on this screen. To get a list of everything still owed, run the Open Invoice Report under Financial > Financial Reports.

Search all receipts

  1. Go to Financial > View Receipts.
  2. Pick a month or date range, then search by client name or invoice number.

Each receipt shows the client, amount, date, and payment type. Labels show when a receipt is a Prepayment, a deposit, or Refunded, and any Tip or Cash Tip is listed. Receipts marked Deleted have been removed and no longer count as payments.

A single client's invoices and receipts

  1. Open the client's record and go to the Financial tab.
  2. Choose Invoices/Receipts.

The Invoices grid lists each invoice's Amount, Amount Paid, and Balance. Below the grid you'll see the client's Total Credit, Total Paid, and Balance. A red balance means the client owes money. Click an invoice number to open it, or click the print icon next to it.

The Receipts grid lists each payment with its Payment Type and any Unapplied amount. An unapplied amount is money the client has paid that hasn't been used on an invoice yet.

Print or email copies

  1. Open the invoice and click Email/Print.
  2. Tick the invoices and receipts you want. You can choose up to 10.
  3. Enter the client's email. To send to more than one address, separate them with commas.
  4. Click Send Email, or click Print Selected Documents.

You can also click View PDF on an invoice. On a receipt, use the email box and click Send now.

Common questions

I can't find an invoice. What should I check? Check the date range first, because the list only shows one range at a time. Then try searching by invoice number.

What does Unapplied mean on a receipt? It's money the client has paid that hasn't been put toward an invoice yet, such as a deposit or credit.

Why can't I edit a paid invoice? Once payments have been taken against an invoice, you'll see a message asking you to click Edit to change it. Depending on your access rights, you may need a manager to do it.
