Why a daycare appointment says "Grooming pet" or "Boarding Pet
Learn where these automatic daycare notes come from, how to add daycare to a grooming booking, and how to change the note.
Sometimes a daycare appointment has a short note that nobody remembers typing, like Grooming pet or Boarding Pet. Kennel Connection adds these notes when a daycare day is created for you from another booking, so staff know why the pet is in daycare that day. This will show on the daycare appointment screen and on the daycare log type reports.
"Grooming pet": daycare added from a grooming booking
When you book a grooming appointment, you can also put the pet in daycare for the same day.
- Open the grooming booking. See "Book a grooming appointment".
- Tick Add to daycare.
- Finish the booking and click Save.
Kennel Connection creates a daycare appointment for the same pet on the grooming date, with the note Grooming pet. If the grooming appointment repeats, a daycare day is added for each date. The daycare uses your default daycare type and is set to use a package day if the pet has one.
Tip: Add to daycare always shows as unticked when you reopen a grooming appointment, even if you used it. To check, look on the Daycare Schedule for that date, or on the pet's Appointments tab.
Note: Be careful when ticking Add to daycare while editing a grooming appointment. If the pet already has a daycare appointment that day, its notes are replaced with Grooming pet and its times are updated, with no warning. If you're booking a new grooming appointment and the pet already has daycare that day, you'll see a "Duplicate daycare appointment" message instead, and the existing daycare isn't changed.
Add to daycare isn't shown for businesses that use only the grooming module.
"Boarding Pet": older daycare added from a boarding stay
You may see Boarding Pet on older daycare or grooming appointments. These were added automatically from a boarding stay. Kennel Connection Cloud doesn't add this note to new appointments, so if you're seeing it on new bookings, contact support and we'll help you find out where it's coming from.
Any other wording
Notes like Boarding pet (with a small "p") or Boarding dog aren't added by Kennel Connection. Someone on your team typed them, or they were copied from an earlier appointment.
Change or remove the note
The note is an ordinary daycare note, so you can edit it like any other.
- Open the daycare appointment from the Daycare Schedule or the pet's Appointments tab.
- Change or delete the text in Daycare Instructions for (pet name).
- Click Save.
Common questions
Is "Grooming pet" an error? No. It's a reminder that the daycare day was added along with a grooming appointment.
Will the daycare day be charged?
It's set to use a package day if the pet has one. Otherwise, it will charge your regular daycare price based on room or type. Check the appointment before invoicing if you aren't sure.
I unticked Add to daycare. Why is the daycare appointment still there?
Unticking the box doesn't delete daycare days that were already created.
Can I stop this note from being added? Not at the moment. You can edit or delete it after the appointment is created.
